From Avegno follow the Valle Maggia main road in the direction of Cevio/Bignasco. Once in Cevio, cycle along the main road until the bus stop and then turn left and turn back to the village centre. In the village centre turn right and climb to Bosco Gurin. Continue along the road following the road signs and reach Bosco Gurin.
Alternative C: You can also choose the «sprint» version of this excursion Cevio – Bosco Gurin.
Alternative A: This excursion can also be started in Locarno (Locarno - Avegno 8 km). From the Lido of Locarno follow the road along the lake for about 300 m in the direction of the town centre. When you reach Via Bramantino turn left and continue always straight ahead until the big roundabout of Piazza Castello. Take the 3 rd exit in the direction of Orselina/Locarno Monti and go on straight ahead until you reach Via Valle Maggia. Turn left in the direction of Centovalli/Valle Maggia. In Ponte Brolla continue along the same road in the direction of Valle Maggia and reach Avegno.
Alternative B: You can also choose to start this excursion at the National Sport Centre (C.S.T.) in Tenero (Tenero-Locarno 5 km). Outside the centre turn left and reach the roundabout. Take the 3 rd exit and pay attention to the Switzerland Mobility road signs to reach the ship landing of Locarno. Continue the excursion following the cycling path in the direction of Ascona for about 250 m until you reach Bar Lungolago. Cross the main road using the pedestrian crossing and cycle along Via Bramantino. For the rest of the excursion follow the official road signs.
This excursion follows a busy cantonal road. From Cevio on there is less traffic, but the road is narrower.
The climb between Cevio and Bosco Gurin is very challenging.
From Tenero to Locarno cycle along Via Simen.
Avegno: by the football fields – free / Cevio: at the entry of the village, after passing the Visletto’s bridge - free / Locarno: at the Lido (Alternative A) / Tenero: at the C.S.T. – free (Alternative B)
