A magnificent high altitude walk along a ‘bisse’ where you will feel like you are up in the clouds, spectacular and literally flat all the way. It is the highest of all the 8 canals in the commune of Nendaz. There is maybe no longer water flowing within its banks but it largely makes up for that with its sumptuous views of the dam and its turquoise water and the valley below. The Cleuson dam is a work of art in it own rights with its 87m in height and its 420m in width. The dam wall can be visited during the summer months.
Version A: It is possible to continue to the Lake of «Grand Désert» (+ 5.6km / + 332m / + 2h)
DISCOVER NENDAZ, THE LAND OF THE «BISSES»
Scorched by the sun and often difficult to access, the valleys of the Valais are irrigated by «Bisses»- water channels - follow their course along fascinating paths. In Nendaz you’ll find 8 «Bisses» and 6 still with water.
Dug into the ground, carved out of rock, or even attached to it, the scars of the Bisses are reminders of the constant battle against drought waged by the region's farmers. Today, gentle yet spectacular paths lead along these old water channels. The eight channels of Nendaz are particularly famous - for example, the high level walk along the Bisse de Chervé with views of the whole of the Rhone Valley, or the path to the enchanted idyll and waterfalls of the Bisse Vieux.
