A spectacular, inspiring hike that offers more than just spectacular views of the Great Aletsch Glacier. This tour brings you close to the permanent ice and the fascinating glacier lakes.
The mountain station of the Bettmeralp cable car is the starting point for this hike full of impressive natural experiences. From here, hike past the placid waters of the Bettmersee and continue uphill towards the Blausee and Breite Bodu to the Moosfluh viewpoint. Your reward for the ascent is a wonderful panoramic view of the 4,000-metre peaks of Valais and the Great Aletsch Glacier. On the next section of the route – downhill via Alte Stafel – you'll get closer to this ice giant with every step as you head towards the “Chatzulecher”, the emerald-green lakes that shimmer on the edge of the glacier. After enjoying this beautiful view to the full, it's time to make your way back. Start by following the ascent to Biel, where you can take one last look at the Great Aletsch Glacier before descending to Bettmeralp on the other side of the mountain.
