This beautiful circular route leads through the valley, mostly along cross-country trails, and takes in many of the region’s sights and villages. There are many bus stops and opportunities to cut the trail short along the way.
The trail starts at the Saas-Balen village square and leads westwards towards the round church. Here, it branches off in a southerly direction up the valley until it arrives at the Saaser Vispa river. The route then follows the river to the hamlet of Bidermatten, which belongs to Saas-Balen but seems to be part of Saas-Grund. Next, the trail leads over a bridge near Bidermatten and along the left-hand side of the river, before crossing the next bridge near the hamlet of Tamatten. Keeping to the right-hand side of the river, the trail then continues past Saas-Grund and arrives at the road that leads to Saas-Fee. The trail continues along the Saaser Vispa river in a southerly direction and passes the Unter den Bodmen hamlet on the way to Saas-Almagell.
