The track of the 2003 Cross Country World Championship is about 5 km in length, with a maximum altitude difference of 70 metres; the track is technically demanding and is indicated only for physically fit sportsmen. Nonetheless, it is now possible to avoid the most difficult stretch, since an alternative track has been created, dedicated, in particular, to less expert users. The MTB World Championship track was created by Thomas Frischnecht (winner of the world marathon of that same year) and set up by Mathias Arpagaus with the peculiar characteristic of being a winding, fast and challenging track. Most of the track is on a dirt road.
Just try the emotion of unforgettable, world level competitions!
The track is extremely interesting from the tourist point of view and is complementary to the offers of the Monte Tamaro SA (the entertainment area including the sleigh riding area, the adventure park and the Tyrolese cable riding attraction). The cableway gives you a ride up in the direction of Mount Tamaro, where you’ll also find a cosy restaurant and the famous church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. You’ll be astounded by the stunning view of the pre-alpine landscape with its lakes and the snow capped Alps.
Alternative A: You can descend back to the valley by following the dirt road.
