The beautiful mountain trail “Vom Gletscher zum Wasser” (from the glacier to the water) passes some magnificent viewpoints and also offers you a glimpse of the past. The historic shorelines of the legendary Märjelensee lake, which often caused flooding in the valley, are still clearly visible today.
The route begins from the Eggishorn cable car mountain station towards the Horli Hitta, behind which the trail winds its way down the mountain. From the Tälligrat/Märjelen signpost at the end of this section, hike for about 15 minutes along a romantic paved trail until you arrive at a small lake at the Tälligrat with a gorgeous view. The descent from here to the Gletscherstube hut takes about 45 minutes. If you wish, you can make another detour from here to the Platta viewpoint (a 50-minute round trip), from where you can appreciate the scale of the old Märjelensee lake thanks to the clearly visible deposits along the former shoreline.
The route back towards Fiescheralp leads from the Gletscherstube along a wide track to the entrance of the illuminated Tälligrat tunnel. From there you can reach Fiescheralp in about 90 minutes on foot.
