Tour description

This tour is not meant for Sunday riders. For one thing, it requires somewhat more training than the Sunday rider needs, for another the popular hiking trail, the Panoramaweg, is part of this route. A hiking trail has been more or less well maintained along the ridges of the Grosser and Kleiner Mythen for decades, extending from Mostelberg to Holzegg, Ibergeregg, Spirstock and finally Hoch-Ybrig. From 1993 to 1998 the old trail was renovated, and the result is a well cared for hiking trail with protective refuges, outdoor fireplaces and good directional signs. It is perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea to drive ca. 15 km from Einsiedeln along the Sihlsee to Unteriberg. But what comes next makes it all worthwhile. From Unteriberg to Holzegg the route follows the Iron-Bike route (marked) for the most part. Most enjoyable is the magnificent view of the Central Swiss Alps! From Holzegg the tour continues along the impressive Mythen cliffs to Hagenegg. And now comes the real key section of the tour: you will need all your technical knowledge, fitness and strength on the following, narrow ridge trail along the Grossbrechenberg. You’ll have to push your bike a few times. Shortly before the Nüsellstock you turn off at first on a single trail, later onto an alpine road in the direction of Ober Trachslau. From there along the valley to Einsiedeln.

Places along the route: Einsiedeln - Willerzell - Euthal - Oberiberg - Roggenegg - Spirstock - Ibergeregg - Holzegg - Haggenegg - Grossbrechenstock - Teuffeli - Ruchegg - Ober Trachslau - Einsiedeln
