This varied hike leads through the villages of the Lower Goms to the birthplace of the world-famous hotelier, César Ritz.
Starting from Fiesch, follow Furkastrasse out of the valley until the access road for the “Sport Ferien Resort Fiesch” branches off on the left. The route leads from here via the access road before descending to the Rhone. After crossing the river, hike along the old mule track across the A¨rnerfeld up to Ernen, then continue on relatively flat terrain to Mühlebach and Steinhaus. From there, the route runs across beautiful meadows and pastures towards Niederwald, the birthplace of César Ritz. The founder of the famous Ritz hotel chain was also laid to rest in the village cemetery. There is a convenient train service to take you back to Fiesch.
