This leisurely hike leads all the way across the sun plateau. A unique view of more than 40 Valais peaks over 4,000 metres high will be your constant companion as you admire the highlights along the way: the Great Aletsch Glacier, the Aletsch Forest and the Villa Cassel.
The hike starts in Fiescheralp. After crossing the village, continue on the flat hiking path along the mountainside to the Bättmer Hitta and onwards to the Bettmersee lake. From here the route runs uphill towards the ridge; after a short climb you'll pass the next lake on this beautiful hike, the Blausee. This is followed by another short ascent, after which you'll enjoy your first glimpse of the Great Aletsch Glacier, a constant source of inspiration during the next stage of the hike. The trail runs through the protected Aletsch Forest with its ancient pines up to Riederfurka, where it's well worth paying a visit to the Pro Natura Centre Aletsch in the imposing Villa Cassel before you take on the short descent to Riederalp.
