This snowshoe trail is not for the faint-hearted or for beginners. Sections of the route are very challenging but the intrepid walker is rewarded with breathtaking views of the Breccaschlund below.
Carved by glaciers tens of thousands of years ago, the Breccaschlund is one of Switzerland’s most scenic alpine valleys. Its uniqueness and outstanding natural beauty were officially recognised in 1996 when it was added to the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance.
Variant A: Descent from the Euschelspass to Jaun
This trail is suitable only for experienced snowshoers who have the necessary skills to assess the avalanche risk and to respond appropriately to the dangers of a mountain environment. There is a particularly steep section (the slope directly below the summit) as well as an exposed section (summit ridge).
