Mount Fürstein is on the border of cantons Lucerne and Obwalden. With a height of 2,040 meters, it is the highest peak along the Glaubenberg Pass. From here you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views featuring Mount Pilatus in the northeast and the Bernese Alps in the southwest. It’s no wonder that Fürstein is such a popular destination for hiking and skiing! However, the ascent involves two long sections (Rickhubel and the ridge just below the summit) with a climb of more than 30 degrees.
From the Glaubenberg Pass, the trail rises straight to Rickhubel and offers impressive views of Fürstein as well as other mountains. The descent follows the southeastern summit flank down to Ober Seewen. The tour continues along a summer path leading to Alp Fürstein and Blattli. For refreshments, why not stop at the Alpebeiz Stäldili tavern? From there the trail continues straight down along the road to Flühli.
Option A: A circular tour over Fürstein to Ober Sewen and then over Alp Schnabel and back to Glaubenberg (distance: 8.5km / altitude difference: 686m / time needed: 5 hours / difficulty level: 4)
Option B: Direct descent via a summer path from Stäldili to Flühli (only recommended when there isn’t much snow!)
