Exciting crossings, vertical climbs and amazing views: the Eggishorn via ferrata is a unique experience that demands sure-footedness, a head for heights and good general fitness. As it is outstandingly secured with iron rungs, cables and rails, however, it is also suitable for less experienced climbers. Highlights for more adventurous spirits can be circumnavigated. Local mountain guides can provide the ideal support.
Starting from the Eggishorn cable car mountain station, begin by hiking downhill towards Elsenlücke for about half an hour and onwards to the entrance of the via ferrata. The fixed rope route runs through the grippy rock and across impressive formations, affording magnificent views across the sun plateau to Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp. Highlights include a three-cable bridge (40 m), a suspension footbridge (30 m) and a death slide (30 m). After enjoying two hours of spectacular climbing of easy to medium difficulty and overcoming an elevation of 305 metres, you'll reach the end of the route on the Eggishorn.
The via ferrata includes emergency exits (after approx. 1 hour's climbing) if you want to end the tour early.
