This trail starts at the Hohsaas valley station and leads mostly across the valley descent, sledging slope and many of the Alpine pastures in and around Saas-Grund. There are several spots along the route, such as Joseph’s Chapel and Zingelstapfen, which offer unique views of the valley and the surrounding mountains.
After the valley station, the trail gradually leads up the mountain. At the first 180-degree bend, the trail turns right and off the piste, and continues upwards in a gentle zigzag through the snowy forest to the Bodme Alpine pasture. After Bodme, the trail leads once again to the sledging slope and follows it past Tewald, Triftalp and Zingelstapfen (second 180-degree bend) to Kreuzboden. Once at Kreuzboden, head to the restaurant or the Hohsi bar for a rest and a bite to eat. You can then make your way back down the mountain on the gondola lift.
There is the option to travel from Trift to Kreuzboden by cableway (in that direction only).
Please ask the staff at the Saas-Grund tourist office or Hohsaas cableways for information on the condition and opening times of this trail.
Please note that this trail is also used as a sledging slope and forms part of the valley descent.
