Bridge on the Maggia

Bridge on the Maggia

Valle Maggia

Valle Maggia

Tour description

A technically very demanding tour in the lower part of the Maggia Valley.

We leave from Maggia village, and continue partly on footpaths and partly on the old road, following the valley as far as Someo. Here we cross the River Maggia on a suspended bridge 380 metres long. For safety reasons, it is necessary to push the bicycle while crossing the bridge. On the other side of the river we find a technically very demanding single track which takes us to Lodano. Following a quiet, little-used road we arrive at Moghegno, and from there finish the tour by returning to Maggia Village. The tour does not offer special viewpoints over the valley, but following the route we pass many old but wellpreserved villages with typical stone houses and chapels.

Places along the route: Maggia - Coglio - Giumaglio - Someo - Lodano - Moghegno - Aurigeno - Maggia
