From Mergoscia, the geographic center of Ticino, to Corippo, along a panoramic path overlooking the Vogorno Lake. These villages maintained a characteristic rural aspect thanks to the stonework, the doors and white framed, and the roofs made of stone slabs. All were surrounded by vineyards and dry stone walls.
Points of interest:
- the Church of Mergoscia, dedicated to saints Gottardo and Carpoforo, was built on a terrace and overlooks a courtyard. The architecture is remarkable with its ossuary, porch and steeple. From the forecourt of the church the view embraces Lake Maggiore, Gambarogno, the artificial lake of Vogorno, the dam of Verzasca and the surrounding mountains; the elegant profile of Pizzo Vogorno stands out among the other mountains.
- Corippo: the stone houses with slab roofs, the narrow streets and votive frescoes, the church of Beata Vergine del Carmelo (17th Century, portrait of the Virgin Mary on the façade by Meletta, and inside fragments of a fresco of the Last Supper).
- Bridge, and river Verzasca at the «Corippo Bivio».
Recommended period: april - october
