A good level of fitness is essential if you aim to take on this wonderful hike over glorious Alpine pastures to the Blinnental valley.
Mu¨hlebach is the starting point of this physically demanding hike. Just outside the village you'll find the first major ascent, via an Alpine road to Chäserstatt. At the top you'll be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Rhone Valley. Then hike along the ridge of the Ärnergalen, admiring sensational views of the broad trough valley of the Goms on the left and the Rappental valley on the right. The route initially continues on a narrow path with a view of the Chummehorn and Mittaghorn mountains, before reaching the Herchumme basin after a hike across meadows and past mountain springs. Only the ruins of the Alpine hut serve as a reminder that herds of cattle once grazed here. Now follow the steep path down the flank of the valley to the Alpstafel and cross the Höllgraben dyke. The final stage of the route leads out through the beautiful Blinnental valley to Reckingen, where you can travel back to Mühlebach on public transport.
