Tour description

After the train ride to Klewenalp, first you walk across alpine meadows until you reach the high-alpine zone near the impressive Oberbauenstock. With a bit of luck you might see herds of ibex and chamois in the Schwalmis area. Along the Gandispitz-Oberbauenstock ridge you can admire a variety of mountain flowers.

Variants

Option A: A short trip up Schwalmis (an extra 1.2km walk with a 226m ascent)
Option B: An attractive descent via Hunds-Chopf (dog’s head!) to Niederbauen, where you can take the cable car to Emmetten and then the bus to Beckenried. However, this option isn’t recommendable if it’s wet.

Note(s)

Some points along the ridge are only suitable for experienced hikers who aren’t prone to vertigo.
