After Lago Bianco it goes up to the great viewpoint Sassal Mason with view of Piz Palü, of heart-shaped Lago di Palü, Alp Grüm and Valposchiavo. Below there is the high valley of Cavaglia that invites for a rest.
The trail offers fantastic views of mountains and glaciers, of the deep notch of Valposchiavo and of the Bergamasc Alps in Italy located behind. The railway makes lots of turns in order to conquer the difference in altitude: an impressive sight!
From the high valley of Cavaglia that was used as a real village with school, shop and restaurant for some decades due to the construction of the railway and of the power plant, the descent continues and passes by the numerous Alpine huts which are well kept and surrounded by forests and hedges. Finally you arrive to Poschiavo, the main place of the valley.
It is worthwhile visiting the glacier potholes of Cavaglia that are accessible for the public. The stones that rotated due to the strong currents of the prehistoric glacial water ground the potholes into the rock and formed them to sleek cavities and gaps.
