Experience the Aletsch Arena at its most beautiful on this impressive circular hike. The wonderful hiking trail is lined with ice, rocks, water and magnificent Alpine plants.
The tour starts at the mountain station of the Bettmerhorn cable car (2,647 m). After a gentle downhill slope, the route passes across fairly flat terrain towards Rote Chumma. Not only is the Great Aletsch Glacier always in sight during this section of the trail, it also moves closer with every step. The route continues along a path with stone steps carved out of the rock towards Märjela and the Märjelensee lake. Once you've passed the Gletscherstube mountain restaurant and the Märjelensee, hike across Unneres Tälli or Oberes Tälli (a shorter route through the 1 km Tälligrat tunnel) towards Salzgäb. From there, the trail leads downhill towards Fiescheralp and Bettmeralp – the final stage of this wonderful hike.
