A clear view of the Great Aletsch Glacier on one side, with the sun plateau, Riederalp and Bettmeralp on the other. On this wonderful hike along the mountain ridge, it'll be hard to take your eyes off the stunning scenery.
The hike starts at the mountain station of the Riederalp cable car. Follow the trail from here up to Riederfurka, where a visit to the Pro Natura Centre Aletsch in the imposing Villa Cassel is an ideal stopover. Above the Aletsch Forest, continue along the former moraine of the mighty ice giant towards Biel, enjoying the view of the Great Aletsch Glacier along the way. Once you reach Biel, you'll also have a clear view down to Riederalp and Bettmeralp on the other side of the ridge. A final steep ascent now leads to the end of the hike, the Bettmerhorn viewpoint. This location certainly lives up to its name, rewarding you with another magnificent panoramic view before you return by cable car to Bettmeralp.
This trail passes through a geologically unstable area. Please enquire before you set off whether all paths on your planned route are currently open.
