From Klosters Dorf (1124 m.a.s.l.), take the Madrisa cable car to the Saaser Alp top station (1887 m.a.s.l.) After a short detour, pass the Madrisa-Land and continue on to the Saaser Alp (high-level cattle pasture where there is so much to see), then follow the path in an easterly direction to the Zügenhüttli lodge (2063 m.a.s.l.). Follow the high-level trail over the Alp to the Schlappin ridge (2202 m.a.s.l.). From there, a steep descent leads in a southerly direction to Schlappin (1640 m.a.s.l.). The Berghaus Gemsli or Berghaus Erika restaurants in Schlappin are perfect for a bite to eat and to recharge your batteries. There is also a very attractive barbecue spot right next to the lake in Schlappin. Take the Alpine road or the footpath on the left side of the valley back to Klosters Dorf. You'll find yourself walking along a beautiful, raging wild stream. A playground with another barbecue spot marks the end of this tour.
Interesting places to visit:
The first alpine adventure park on the sun-kissed mountain above Klosters is the biggest adventure theme park in the region and is also accessible to physically and visually impaired visitors. Immerse yourself in the world of alpine legends. Over 90 legends and folk tales from the region are brought to life in the Madrisa-Land.
Walk where once pack trains passed. The Schlappin ridge has been used for thousands of years as a transport route between the Montafon and Grisons regions. However, this route also served as a theatre of war before and during the 1622 Prättigau War between Grisons and the Montafon. Spearheads from the Bronze Age, found up on the ridge, are testament to this. However, trade goods, such as wine from Valtellina and over a thousand head of cattle, were transported every year on the mule track from the Prättigau into Montafon and vice versa. This hike is a section of the Via Valtellina route.
Schlappin is a small picturesque mountain village with a lake that looks as if it has come straight out of a picture book. There is a beautiful camp-fire with a children's playground directly on the lake.
Variante A: At the junction before the Älpli, follow the path that heads in a southerly direction towards Schlappin. Then continue along a forest trail through the Schlappin ravine to Klosters Dorf.
Important: Travel there and back by public transport:
By train (RhB) to Klosters Dorf, short bus ride to the Madrisa cable car, then take the cable car up to the Madrisa.
Madrisa, Schlappin, Klosters
