The trail starts in Braggio, a car-free mountain village, which is only accessible on foot via the old mule track from Arvigo or with the cable car. The meadows around the village and the pastures of the mountain huts are well looked after.
The trail goes up steeply through the woods with larch and spruce trees and crosses several settlements. At Montdent the trial joins a road that passes the impressive Auriglia canyon. At the settlement of Cauco, which is part of Bersach, the descent starts towards Selma with the impressive parish church, dedicated to St Jacob and Peter. At Selma the post bus takes you back to Arvigo or you can go by foot alongside the Calancasca mountain stream.
The hike through the Calanca Valley goes through scenery that is strongly influenced by the traditional agriculture. The Adula Park national park project will contribute to preserving the scenery and the life style in the Calanca Valley.
From Braggio follow the signposts in the direction Braggio Montdent. Once you arrive in Montdent, follow the trail to Selma.
