The start of this 1-day mountain bike tour is at the train station Chur. Cycle out of the city in eastern direction, through the Fürstenwald (forest) to the village of Trimmis. When you have crossed the stream in Trimmis, the ascent begins on the right side up to Says and further up to Stams, where you will have a splendid 360° panorama view. During the sum-mer months, the restaurant in Stams is feasted and you can refresh yourself with some drinks and snacks. An easy single track leads to Abendweid and into the valley plains to the Schranggabach. From there, you cycle out of the scenic mountain valley. After a short ascent to the mountain village of Valzeina, the descent continues on the mountain road. When you have reached the bottom of the Prättigau valley, cross the river, branch off to the left side and follow the riverside in direction to Landquart. Before you reach Landquart (at Ganda) go left, pass by the castle of Marschlins and continue the way back through the villages of Igis and Zizers. Finally, ascent to the village of Trimmis again and cycle through the Fürstenwald forest back to Chur.
Variante A: At Stams, go left and ascent a bit further. Afterwards follows a nice single track descent. Just before you reach the vil-lage of Valzeina, the route merges into the paved road. Variante B: Shortly before you reach the village of Valzeina you take a left and ascent to the Mittagsplatte (235 meter in height). Up there you will find a large antenna and a wonderful panorama view into the Rhine valley. For the descent, first cycle back a short distance on the road of the ascent, then follow a trail on the right side, cross a meadow and take the steep downhill downwards a bit later (very technical in the beginning but getting smoother soon). Later the descent continues on a forest road. Above of the village of Zizers, go left two times. That way you can avoid to ride on the street and you can save some meters in height on the way back to Chur.
