Explore idyllic Zugerland! It’s easier to hike with a wonderful view over the lake to Cham and Zug. Across lush meadows - with a glimpse to the impressive pyramid of the Rigi - you reach Chiemen, the largest peninsula on Lake Zug. Picnicers and bathers can be seen all round the Chiemen in the woods along the lake. Our goal is Immensee.
Take the local (S-Bahn) railway from Zug to Rotkreuz - at Rotkreuz train station direction Buonas - through Sientalwald (wood) - ascent via Auleten to Breitfeld - over the motorway bridge to Brüglen - via Stockeri and Eichholz to the Grenzbach - follow the lake pathway to Itelfingen - along the banks of the river around the Chiemen peninsula - Immensee.
Places of interest:
- Restaurant Breitfeld with clock golf course & model railway exhibition
- Tree of Experience at Sientalwald
- Barbecue areas on Chiemen peninsula
- Restaurant Baumgarten
Variation A: Shortened route: at Itelfingen turn right and follow the Teuftal to Baumgarten.
Caution with children on the peninsula: the footpath is right by the banks of the lake. Please study boat timetable in advance if you intend to return by boat.
