Emmetten’s wild animal observation path

Emmetten’s wild animal observation path

Tour description

Discover the courtship rituals of black cocks, and with some luck and a sharp eye, observe mountain wildlife on the steep slopes. Equipped with binoculars and a backpack, you’ll follow a ranger who knows exactly where the wild things are in the Niederbauen region.

Switzerland’s only such observation trail leads from Niederbauen through lush green alpine meadows up to Emmetten’s Mount Stockhütte. Thanks to the series of signs posted along the way, you’ll learn a lot of interesting things about the local fauna.

If you want to be certain to see the animals in the flesh and not just pictured on the signs, you can book a tour with a local ranger. When you start at dawn, you experience some unforgettable moments in the great outdoors. Depending on the season, the animals spend their time in a variety of places. Your guide knows the area well and can show you where the animals are.

Get oriented using the green signs reading «Wildbeobachtungspfad».
From Niederbauen, always follow the signs leading to Stockhütte. At the Isital junction, the green signs point in two directions. Go right and you’ll reach Stockhütte via Twäreggen. From here, the cable car will bring you back down to your starting point in Emmetten.
